Some common mistakes to avoid while dealing with dengue

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral infection that affects numerous people around the world. It can cause severe flu-like symptoms, and in some cases, it can lead to life-threatening complications. While there is no such specific treatment for dengue but the vaccine is still under clinical trials. It is generally common on rainy days in the months between June to October. The symptoms which are found in dengue patients are high fever, headache, and body pain. It can grow to a more severe condition which is known as dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Here, we will discuss some major mistakes to avoid during dengue and all the necessary precautions to stay safe-  

Ignoring early symptoms: One of the biggest mistakes people make is regarding the early symptoms of dengue. These symptoms may include high fever with lots of chills, headache, fatigue, joint and muscle pain. Dengue patients should avoid places that are water-logged and should prefer clothes with full sleeves. Clean your water cooler and water tanker frequently and keep them covered as open water containers can entice mosquitos to breed. They are more active during the day time so protection should be carried out all the time.  

Inadequate fluid intake: Due to high fever of dengue, it causes a lot of dehydration to your body. So, keep yourself hydrated with plenty of fluid such as fresh juices rich in vitamin C, water, and coconut water which will help to boost your immunity as well. Dehydration can exacerbate the dengue symptoms and increase the chances of complications.  

Lack of rest and recovery: Dengue can be physically exhausting and can take several weeks to recover. Many people make mistakes by not allowing themselves proper rest and pushing too hard too soon. Dengue-suffering people should be isolated and continuously monitored. It is important to prioritize rest, follow medical advice and gradually resume regular activities only after the body has fully recovered.
